JACKPROBE

Terms and privacy

The short version

This site sets no cookies and runs no analytics. The device sends nothing anywhere unless you configure it to. Everything else on this page is detail.

Privacy

This website

No cookies are set, no analytics or tracking scripts run, and no accounts exist. The web server keeps ordinary request logs, which include IP addresses, for security and for diagnosing faults.

Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which means your browser makes a request to Google's servers when you open a page here. That is the one third-party request this site makes.

Privacy

The device

A JackProbe tester has no account, no registration and no connection to us. It does not phone home, and there is no telemetry of any kind. Test results and saved reports stay in the device's own flash until you download or delete them.

Two things leave the device, both because a test requires them. It opens an outbound connection to check that the internet is reachable and to learn the public address of the drop, which necessarily contacts a host outside the network under test. And if you configure a webhook, it posts a summary of each saved report to the address you chose, and nowhere else.

Reports may contain information about a customer's network: addresses, switch names, port identifiers, VLANs, and whatever you type into the label and notes. Where you send those files is your decision and your responsibility.

What this instrument is not

JackProbe is a diagnostic aid, not a certification instrument. It does not certify cabling, produce a wiremap, measure cable length or locate faults, and it cannot be used to support a structured cabling warranty or any compliance claim. A PASS means the readings it took were healthy at that moment, on that drop, at 10 or 100 megabit. It is not a statement about the cable, the installation, or anything it did not measure.

Decisions you make from its readings are yours. We publish what it measures and what it refuses to claim, in detail, so that boundary is knowable before you rely on it.

Ownership

JackProbe, its firmware, this site and the JackProbe name and mark are proprietary. All rights reserved. The firmware was written from scratch and contains no third-party network-tester source.

JackProbe is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or derived from NetAlly, Fluke Networks, or any other manufacturer. Where another company's product is named on this site it is for comparison only, and those names are the property of their owners.

Corrections

If something on this site is wrong, or claims more than the instrument does, we want to know. That is the whole basis on which these pages are written, and a correction is more useful to us than a compliment.
